Happy Friday + Hello November!
Well, here we are. It’s the day after Halloween, and I’m sure we’re all trying to drink lemon water after all the sugar we consumed last night. And if you didn’t take candy from someone, don’t judge me! After Reese's Pieces, coffee crisps, and a bag of Doritos, I’m definitely drinking a lot of lemon water today.
There’s something so sweet about watching kids walk around confidently in the costumes they chose. It gives them a chance each year to be whoever they want to be. Whether they dress as a superhero or something scary, it really makes me wonder why they chose that character. Maybe it’s not as deep as I think, but perhaps they want to be an evil villain to stand up to someone who used to bully them, or a superhero because they want to feel powerful. Maybe they choose a character that connects them with their mom’s favorite childhood movie. That’s me, if you’re wondering!
Whatever the reason, it’s adorable to see them dressed up as their chosen characters. Although I could do without all the junk, it does encourage them to get outside for a nice brisk walk in the evening, which sets them up for a good night's sleep.
With November ahead, I feel a sense of relaxation wash over me. My favourite season is approaching, and I’ve had to remind myself to take it easy. The typical me would have swapped the Halloween wreath on my front door for my Christmas wreath, fresh and ready for November 1. This year has taught me a lot about pacing myself. I’m trying to embrace a more leisurely, go-with-the-flow mentality. The past year has shown me the importance of slowing down and prioritizing what truly matters.
This month, I’m really focusing on the first two letters: NO. I’m saying no to things that aren’t a definite "heck yes." I discussed this a lot in my book. If you haven’t purchased it yet, what are you waiting for? If it’s not a "hell yeah," then it’s a no. I’m not living in the in-between. If I decide last minute, I’ll let you know. Sometimes we get so caught up in busy schedules that we forget to do things for ourselves. Why do we put ourselves last? I’m not sure, but we often consume so much unnecessary content, scrolling instead of being fully present. That’s my focus this month as I keep pouring into myself and working to elevate my well-being.
On that note, there are so many fun things ahead! In the spirit of Christmas, and with my core values of community, culture, and connection, we’ve teamed up with Sunday Morning Crafting and Interiors to host a Christmas craft event in our space. We’ll have one session for adults and one for kids—stay tuned for more details! It promises to be a fun night of creativity, plus you’ll have a super cute festive craft to take home. After all, this is the most wonderful time of the year, right?
I’m also excited to announce that we have a new team member joining us, Korie! She’s coming all the way from Montreal and has an impressive background in hair.
We’re also trying out a lot of new styling products and can’t wait to use them on all of your hair. Have you heard of IGK? It’s huge on TikTok in the US, and we’re excited to make a name for it here in Canada. We’re also bringing in other self-care products that fit your beauty budget. With inflation high, mortgage rates soaring, and strawberries costing over $10, we want to help you take care of yourself without breaking the bank. God knows we all need to balance our books.
Until next time, grab a tea or latte, get cozy this weekend, and take some time for yourself. Maybe have a bath or light a candle—you deserve it!
You are truly,
Pamela
P.S. Send me some of your cute Halloween pictures!
