HELLO OCTOBER!!!

THE LEAVES ARE STARTING TO FALL…

Hello October!!!

One of my FAVOURITE times of the year.

Well I know the last newsletter I said “Hello Fall”, but now, it is actually Fall.

In one of my podcast episodes, I actually talk about Fall being my New Years. It is when I set my intentions for the year, and then in January I do a “goal inventory check”. Besides, who wants to create goals in the thick of winter with barely any daylight?!?

I would also like to give a bit of a disclaimer here. I have fully taken over my blog. That’s right, no editor, no proof reading, just ME! So, if you find an error, I am just being organic and authentically me. Just keep reading.

In other news… If you read the last newsletter, I am excited to share that as of next week I AM OFFICIALLY BACK IN THE SALON!!!….(and I am here to stay!)

I have been enjoying the last few weeks reorganizing the house, “Halloween Haunting” at Wonderland, and picking apples to make a pie (that I bought instead LOL). This is a journey back to ME! Ooohhh, that sounds like the next blog title.

It is a time to weed out what is no longer necessary and pour more of what is necessary in. It’s a time to BE with the people I truly love and in the places that energize me! A time to hold what matters closest and not hold onto things that deplete me, so that I can be the BEST version of myself.

With that being said, THANK YOU. I am grateful to everyone who has stuck by me and have reached out throughout the year. I cannot wait to see all of your faces again!

In salon news, have you see our new greeting card collection? We have a new collection coming in soon from a local designer which are SO CUTE! Get a blow dry and grab a card on the way out, perfect right?

Also, have you smelled our new roller oil perfumes??? They are dupes of some of your favourite well known brands and they last all day because they are not alcohol based. To top it off they are cute and small, so you can throw it in your purse or your carry on bag. Erin tells us she gets stopped weekly and asked what scent she is wearing! Grab one at your next appointment!

Well, that is it for now, so grab a PUMPKIN spiced anything and enjoy the leaves!

Xo,

Pamela

GOODBYE SUMMER, HELLO FALL!!!

HERE COMES PUMPKIN SPICE SEASON…

Here we are on the last weekend of Summer!

I actually can’t believe we are here already. It's that time of year when it gets a little chilly. It's like when you're doing a workout and you're getting to the cool down, the last 2 weeks in Canada, well the GTA anyways, it gets cold. Almost like the preview of fall to wake us up and get us back into a routine (and then set my allergies on fire with ragweed season). If you have kids, this is a bittersweet moment because as much as you'll miss having the kids home, it is nice to have them get back into a routine, and not rely on you to entertain them all day!!!!!

What were some of your summer highlights? I have a few, but for all of you who know me, I would have to say mine was going to see MARIAH CAREY.... again! She is my all-time favourite childhood singer!  I am one of her lambs. If you haven’t read The Victory Lap, well, I talk a lot about her in there!

I mentioned her many times in the book. The ways she got me through so many moments, including my biracial frizzy hair trauma as a kid. So yes, I will be following her wherever her heart desires to sing for the rest of my adult life. I am sure Kevin was not as thrilled to be by myself. Side enduring this yet again, #husbandoftheyear. When he heard that I wanted to go for my birthday gift he replied "Don’t you think last year was enough". What kind of question is that??? I saw her twice last year, including once in New York City, there could never be too much Mariah!.

I can't wait to hear all the highlights of yours!

Fall is my FAVOURITE time of the year. It is very metaphorical to me. I actually could never be in a place that didn't have seasons with physical weather changes. When the leaves fall off of the trees, it is time to shed what is no longer serving us. What is no longer necessary? Here I am standing in my shedding season, facing yet another huge shift.

As you may know, on September 1, 2023, I started my first big-girl corporate gig with L’OREAL. L’Oreal is one of the world's biggest Beauty billion-dollar companies.  Your girl here was typing reports, travelling, visiting salons from here to Kingston Ontario, boosting people up their salon game and inspiring others to reach their maximum potential, my favourite part. It was a whirlwind. I clicked the link to apply for someone else and somehow ended up taking the role for myself. One thing about me is that I am not afraid of any challenge. I give it my all and typically conquer. I met so many amazing people and it is such a supportive company (just a VERY heavy workload). They’re there for you and all, however, the year was quite challenging. During my first two weeks on the job, I flew to Montreal and got food poisoning. October 11 shortly came when I was hit by the two electric scooters on the sidewalk, and then  Off on WSIB until February. It was quite interesting. Using my first pair of crutches at the age of 40. They still have not caught those guys, but oh well I’m sure they’re off still running the streets of Toronto. I hope they've learned their lesson after hitting me.

I hopped back on the bandwagon in February into the rat race working six days a week Monday to Friday, L’OREAL and Sundays with my lovely clients at Elevate. Not to mention being a mom, wife and dog mom in between. Cooking, cleaning, managing a household, being a friend, a daughter, a sister and at some point taking care of myself in between. In February, I went on another work trip and then got sick for two weeks, which put me out. On top of that, I lost a good friend and Harper‘s godmother at the beginning of 2024 followed by my cousin's death, witnessing a long-time friend lose her husband and the last kicker was losing one of my L'oreal business partners.  Through all of this my youngest, Harper has developed some serious separation anxiety whenever I leave her side. There were some long days. Some days I drove 2 hours just to start my workday. My lack of presence in the home has quite an impact and this past year has taught me that. Losing all of those people in the last six months has opened my eyes to what is truly important. Family is always first. And most of all myself and my mental well-being. I had stretched myself way too thin and could not be the best version of myself as well as those around me, including the people I interacted with daily. So, all things aside, the highlight of my summer was taking some time to work on myself, be present with my kids and refocus myself on my priorities. Take the time to speak to someone about all of the loss and grief in the last few months. Taking the time to heal. It was a very hard decision, but I had to do it for myself and my health. This year has taught me so much. The job has also taught me so much. It taught me how to show up for myself, how to be organized, how to be disciplined on my own Salon skills, how to manage my time and create healthy boundaries like I said, I met amazing people along the way, including every single owner and stylist I interacted with and educated in my role. This will not be the end of the relationships that I have created, but it is a shift. One thing I also missed was all of you. I miss hearing your stories and laughing together  While making you feel your most beautiful self. I miss playing with my hair.

I can’t wait to see you all again soon.

I have so many questions, like how are you liking the new look of the shop? With the white entryway, I think it’s kind of neat huh?

With that being said, I have so many new ideas and products coming your way to try. Some even have some nice body lotions and body oils and aluminum-free deodorant for those of you who are very conscious of what we put on our skin.

For serious sensitivities, we also have something up our sleeve, which I’ll be sharing probably in the new letter that comes next.

MORE UPDATES..

This past Saturday, a chapter came to an end as we said goodbye to our amazing Vanessa. She has gone off to pursue her dream of owning her hair studio and we wish her nothing but success on her journey. She will be truly missed.

It has been an amazing few years working together and we are proud of you leaping!

Also, WE ARE NOW OPEN ON MONDAYS!

We love getting your feedback and would love to hear from you more. What kind of things would you like to see selling at the shop? What’s your favourite part of coming into Elevate? We’re always looking for feedback and would love it if you even reply to these letters with some of your ideas.  if it’s having iced coffee in the summer, we will try our best, or pumpkin spice for the fall season in your latte!

Well, that is it for now but we’ll see you in the next newsletter… PS Did I tell you Sandy had her first boat ride and she loved it… Stay tuned, see you soon.

Xo

Pamela

P.S. Here is a peek at some more of my summer highlights. Including a 17-hour bus ride to church camp with Madison………(my back is still recovering).

Exciting September Updates!

Pamela Facey — August 25, 2023

I know, we usually don’t come back to your inbox so frequently, but we had some exiting updates that we had to share with our Elevate fam that just couldn’t wait! September always reminds me of new beginnings so it’s only fitting that I share with you my new title starting September 1st, 2023!

Starting September 1st, I will be working with L’Oreal Professionnel as a Technical Consultant for Education.

What does this look like in the salon? I will have several days per month in salon that are reserved for my existing clients, and we will do everything in our power to make that work for them. To prioritize my loyal client base, I will not be taking on new clients at this time but we are more than happy to refer anyone new to one of our other amazing team members. If you are an existing client of mine, please text or call to book an appointment as online booking for me will not be available at this time. That being said, online booking remains an existing form of scheduling appointments for all of our other stylists!

While I will be there a significantly less amount of time as a stylist, I will have more time for the back end and we have lots of plans in the works!

Stay tuned for many fun things ahead!

Come Celebrate with Me!

Come celebrate my new endeavor with me at Yosvanii’s show on the same day, next Friday, September 1 at Revival on College St. If you love RnB, Yosvanii will submerge you musically into all of your favourites with his amazing live band. His last show was incredible, and he had the whole crowd dancing and vibing along throughout the entire night.

Let’s enjoy some live music together before summer is officially over!

Halfway Through August (The Sunday of Summer)!

Pamela Facey — August 17, 2023

It’s getting to that point in the summer where you feel that chill at night once the sun goes down or early in the morning to walk your dog and the air is brisk - a true sign that summer is on its way out. While I’ve enjoyed the many hikes in the sun, and BBQs in backyards is it bad that I’m secretly excited? I have no problem trading those things for a hot latte by the fireplace, wrapped in a cozy knit sweater.. I guess there will be time for that and I’ll enjoy the jacket-free days while we still have them. What about you - are you team summer or team fall?

In Salon News…

Karissa’s wedding is just around the corner! We celebrated our fiery crimson stylist in style by going out for a team brunch at The Beaumont Kitchen. It had been almost 5 months since we were able to get everyone’s schedules coordinated for a team meal and what better an excuse than to celebrate our salon’s soon-to-be bride. We devoured benedicts, french toast, and several mimosas - the vibe was cozy and felt like we were sitting in someone’s kitchen at a gorgeous live edge wood slab table top. The countdown is on as we are officially 36 days away from her special day with her fiance.

Life Lately…

Aside from getting my oldest daughter ready for a new middle school (how is she almost 11?), we’ve been trying to soak up these last days of summer as much as possible. One of my favourite summer activities is a Guess Where trip. “What is that?” you might be asking? A Guess Where trip is a self-guided one-day surprise road trip which is amazing because they take the planning out of adventure. Being a planner - sometimes I just want to go and do, I don’t want to think. They deliver you a cute little box full of envelopes, and as you open each one you are sent off to a destination unknown (within a reasonable distance of course). I love that you discover parts of Ontario that you never would have found if not for being sent on this adventure. You can choose between hiking adventures, markets, art, whatever it is that you’re into and they will curate a special day just for you. The country roads are an added bonus. My recipe for a perfect Guess Where trip is some country music, and some good conversation.

We went on one to Elora & St. Jacobs last Saturday for my cousin Dan’s birthday. We checked out their elaborate farmer’s market and little shops throughout the morning and finished the day at a local breakfast spot. It was so nice taking a break from the chaos of the city and enjoying some of the slower things in these cute little towns that we wouldn’t have come across in our usual day-to-day lives!

If you’ve been in to the salon lately, I’m sure you’ve heard me excitedly talking about how cathartic it was for me to write my book, The Victory Lap, and how thrilled I am with its upcoming release. I can’t wait to share it with you all.

I want to know - what final things are on your bucket list before summer comes to a close!

Pamela Facey — July 28, 2023

I missed you guys! Greece was something I will never forget and I feel so grateful to have experienced with my closest friends and family, but let me tell you that jetlag kicked my butt. How have you been enjoying summer? As much as I’ve been loving it, I can’t believe how fast the days are blowing by. It feels like I just started writing “Victory Lap”, and yet it’s almost ready for release! I’ll include a sneak peek of the book cover at the bottom of the newsletter. I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

In Salon News…

Have you met Pam’s younger brother Aaron? He’s not just a musician with tons of catchy music and captivating music videos, but he will be working behind the desk on Thursdays and days that Denise is away. For those of you that have been with us since the old location, you’ll remember that he actually shared this role with Erin at the end of 2019 into 2020 when our dearest Jasmine initially went on maternity leave! He’s been getting acquainted with all the new products we’ve added to our inventory since then. The picture below should jog your memory.

Don’t be shy - come and book with our Jr Stylist, Kat! She loves performing blonding services for her guests so come on in and book with her to get your new summer hair if you haven’t already! The picture below of the beautiful blonde against the brick wall is a picture of Kat’s work. Come get a taste of her talent!

  • Silicone-free formula penetrates deeper

  • Protects from environmental aggressors

  • Color protection from patented Antifade Complex®

Watch Angie pose with it!

Life Lately…

I missed you all so much while I was away in Greece! We travelled with 19 people to celebrate my sister’s 10 year anniversary to her beloved husband, Yosvanii - and I got the exciting task of being the officiant! It was so beautiful to experience them recommit to each other on the beaches of Crete. As most of you know, I have a pretty sever reaction to dairy from cows but lucky for me, a lot of the dairy in Greece is made from lamb, sheep, and goat so I was able to indulge to my heart’s desire. I’ll be dreaming about the cheese and ice cream for a while.

We set out to find the pink sand beach we had been seeing all over Instagram only to find that it wasn’t quite as pink as we it appeared in pictures. Still stunning, we basked in the sun and walked along the shore reveling in the beauty that the beach encompassed whether or not it was up to the standards Instagram had set for us. I didn’t realize when we set out in Crete that our entire trip would take place during a massive heat wave (Kevin witnessed 3 people faint), but the memories I made with my family are priceless (and so is the tan that I left with). You might recognize Julia in the picture below from the Saturdays she spent behind the desk last summer before she went off to university!

This trip also made me realize how addicting fiction is - do any of you guys have the same guilty pleasure? I went through 2 Colleen Hoover books while awake, and it’s safe to say I am hooked. As much as vacation is a fun escape, I’m so happy to be home. Besides - I can escape whenever I want to with one of those books!

I want to know what you’e been reading! Please let me know any and all recommendations.

Happy Birthday to Elevate on Lake Shore 🎂

Friday July 7 2023

Can you believe how fast time flies? 3 years ago, our excitement couldn’t be contained when the first lockdown lifted and we were finally able to welcome you through our doors! The triple staircase on top of a gym was our past, and our brand new street level entrance was our future - with our favourite café just a block and a half down the street (The Sydney Grind, of course)!

We can’t believe how many people we’ve welcomed into our chairs who found us on their morning walk because they live in the neighbourhood – we are so grateful for all of the beautiful souls we met because we moved to this beautiful location. It was a wild time for small businesses and we couldn’t have made it through without the support of the community around us – rooting for us from the sidelines! To celebrate – we have a 50% off promotion going on for all Olaplex retail products!

Olaplex Promotion - 50% OFF All Retail Products

You heard that right! While we have always sold Olaplex Products for 10% off of market value, we are currently selling them for 50% off while supplies last!

Don’t be shy - come and book with our Jr Stylist, Kat! She loves performing blonding services for her guests so come on in and book with her to get your new summer hair if you haven’t already! The picture below of the beautiful blonde in the pink tiie-dye shirt is a picture of Kat’s work.

Erin is currently completing her Apprenticeship! She still pops in from time to time so don’t be shocked if you come in for your appointment and she offers you a latte or gives you your shampoo, but from Monday-Friday that is where she is. She got 96% on her first test! We are so excited for her hair journey, and can’t wait to have her back.

Life Lately…

Madison graduated Grade 5 this week! As mentioned above, if Life has made me realize anything lately it’s how fast time flies. She was valedictorian of her class, and we couldn’t be more proud of her. (Scroll down to see an old pic of my from the vault a friend sent me this week from my middle school graduation). We also got to hit up the Barbie exhibit with the family and it was so exciting to see how diimensional the Barbie brand has become over the years, and it was so fun to relive my childhood with the girls.

As I’m sure you’ve all heard me talk about if you’ve been in the salon recently, I officially exited my 30s this week and launched into my 40s – or Level 4 as my dear friend Teo lovingly refers to it. I started the day off at Mildred’s with my family for a stack of pancakes so full of gratitude - I couldn’t be more ready. In the time leading up to it, as I looked back on all the twists and turns that got me here I had to write it all down. Every embarrassing moment, obstacle, laugh, tear, loss, and triumph – I wrote it all down into a special project I’d been working on for years – a book called “Victory Lap”! I can’t wait to share more details about it.

My family and I are gearing up to go to Greece for my 40th birthday this week so I will be out of the salon until Monday July 24! If you need anything, the Elevate fam will be happy to take care of you in my absence. As always, we are just a text or call away.

Dare We Say Spring Has Sprung??

Friday May 26 2023

It’s finally been warm enough to leave the house without a jacket for several days in a row…could the sun actually be here to stay? Let’s cross our fingers

There’s nothing like, sitting on a patio with your girlfriends giggling the night away, going for (dairy-free) ice cream with your kids, or basking in the captivating energy of live music once the weather finally warms up.

Speaking of live music, we need to let you in on an exciting live show happening next week!

Client Spotlight

If you’ve ever had an appointment at Elevate on Wednesday afternoons, then you have certainly seen our regular (and dare I say one of the best-looking) client Yosvanii getting his thick lustrous Afro-Cuban curls washed. There's always a buzz in the salon when he leaves as so many staff and clients secretly crush on him. Yosvanii is also an ultra-talented Violinist and next Thursday June 1st, Yosvanii will be performing with his band at Revival on College St downtown. The event is called Playliist, and will feature all of your favourite RnB jams! If you're a fan of him in the salon, get ready to fall in love as he graces the stage!

Come enjoy his show with Elevate that night! Grab a ticket here, bring your friends, & we can't wait to see you there!

In Salon News…

After being closed on Mondays for the past year or so, Modest Mondays have officially rolled out - a bi-weekly day for women only, organized with our Muslim sisters in mind so that they can take their hijab off with the blinds down in peace and get pampered without the anxiety of a man walking into the salon! Open to all women, and this day may become a weekly occurrence over time.

We have 2 new Apprentices joining our team - Kat & Amanda! Kat is the daughter of a hairstylist so she was born with a passion for hair in her blood! She recently graduated as a stellar student from Marca college, and cannot wait to meet all of you. Some of you may already be familiar with Amanda – she did her co-op placement here in April. She is a triplet (!) who is a wizard at braiding, amongst many other growing talents!

Product Updates

We currently have a promotion going on - 30% off all L’Oreal Professional Shampoos & Conditioners. Whether you are finding your hair to be dry as we come out of Winter, or too limp to have any volume, your Elevate team can help you figure out which line is best for you! Feel free to shoot us a text or stop by if you want some direction.

Have you snagged your Olaplex Lash Serum yet? You trust Olaplex to repair the bonds in your hair, now you can trust it to support the natural growth cycle of your lashes and help with lash retention! Experience results in as little as 2 weeks.

Life Lately…

It’s been busy around here! As we congratulate Tonia on leaving the salon to pursue her design career dreams, I’ve continued to be more hands-on. You may not see me as much working behind the chair, but I am very busy behind the scenes. My kids are wrapping up the school year, I am working closely with L’Oreal and Pureology, and I am running the show behind the desk when our lovely Denise isn’t. I took a break this week though to go and see Janet Jackson live at Budweiser Stage which was incredible! Were any of you there in the crowd too?

Cocktail Night Recap & Exciting News!

I can’t believe it’s almost April. Time is flying by way too fast. I just want to put the world on pause for 2 days and catch up on cleaning and take a bath! Does anyone else feel like that?

Today I was telling my husband that time is going so fast, I feel like if I blink it’s going to be my 90th birthday! Then he proceeded to tell me how dramatic I was. Maybe a little, but you know what I mean.

Anyhow, if you didn’t attend our Cocktail Night, it was a hit!

I am sad that my friend and co-host Kassandra couldn’t attend, as she was under the weather, but she had faith in me that I could pull it off. And guess what? We did!I curated a great cocktail, Erin played bar girl, and they were GREAT! (I’ll attach the menu so you can try it out!)

Keep your eyes and ears open for the next event to celebrate the revamp of one of my fan favs

– Pureology’s Colour Fanatic! The packaging was redesigned, and we’ll talk all about it on April 20th. Send us an RSVP if you can make it!

In Salon News…

We are thrilled to announce the addition of Zalina to our team!

Her areas of expertise include an array of brow & lip services. Zalina specializes in Powder Brows, Brow Corrections, Lip Blush, and Lip Neutralization services. Contact us to book a consultation for any of her services!

Permanent Makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is a process in which pigments are inserted into the skin using a digital machine and needle. The pigments used in Permanent Makeup are very similar to those used in traditional tattooing and can be applied to eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips to enhance their natural beauty. The procedure is semi-permanent and can last for several years, however, touch-up appointments are required over time to maintain the desired appearance.

Life Lately…

So, after 12 years, the hubby and I decided to head to a beach. CHILD FREE! It was great, and I recommend it to anyone! We love being Madison and Harper’s parents, don’t get me wrong, but as parents, we forget to be partners and make time for the two of us.

That week away certainly gave us some much-needed R&R time to be ourselves together, sleep in and enjoy the margarita knowing there wouldn’t be a foot in our face and an elbow in our back.

A HUGE shout out to my mama, who held down the fort while we were away. She is truly a gift from God.

I hope that some of that nice weather will be here for all of us real soon, but until then, I’ll enjoy what we have.

Until next time,

xo

Events & Membership Sign Ups!

Well, we made it through three snowstorms, but is anyone else wondering why there was thunder, lightning, and snow at the same time?! Weird I’d say! My poor cedars were literally bent in half from the weight of the snow.

There is something about a snowstorm that is relaxing though. I like feeling like I’m trapped at home, because there is always something to do, and the snowstorm makes you stop and slow down.

EVENTS

Have you heard about our Inoa event on March 17th?!? On Patty’s Day! How about a glass of green champagne? Pop In between 1-4 pm and learn all about the benefits of a luxury colour line, like Inoa…. Did I mention it is ammonia free?

Let us know if you can make it out!

Also, on March 23rd, from 7-9 pm we are having a night to celebrate and talk all about Pureology as amazing dry shampoo! We’re going to teach you some hacks you never knew of. The best part is the fashionable Kassandra Kondo will be featuring a signature Cocktail to get us ready for spring!

Make sure you rsvp to info@elevatebeautylofts.com (or shoot us a text at 647-809-9333) to save a spot for you and feel free to bring a friend, the swag bags are pretty amazing!

MEMBERSHIPS

Did you know Elevate offers blow-dry memberships?

If you are one of our regular blow-dry guests, ask your stylist the next time you’re in how you can get added benefits of a package! Why not see us more often? I’d say the latte makes it worth it :)

Vacation bound!

This week I am sneaking away for some much-needed downtime with the Hubby to have some more birthday celebrations! (Ps. Auntie Helen outdid herself with this cake for my #Gucciman)

Relationships are a beautiful thing, and they take WORK! Something happens when we shack up with another human being. We take things for granted. We just “know” they will be there. We get comfortable, we get stuck in routines, but sometimes we get TOO comfortable. We must remember to continue to date our partners. We have to create the environment we want to BE in. Choose to love, admire, profess, create moments, and connect.

After having kids, I became so immersed in my role as a mother, I forgot I was his wife 1st. Although sometimes I forget I’m ME 1st lol.

Happy wife, happy life, happy mom, happy kids; but also, happy hubby, happy life. In any type of partnership, we must both BE happy people. I will miss the kids a lot though.

So, this will be an amazing opportunity to disconnect and CONNECT!

Can’t wait to share some of the moments when I return!

Have an amazing week and happy March break! Be present, enjoy the small things, and see you soon.

PROMOS, CELEBRATIONS AND EVENTS...OH MY!

I don't know about you, but for the past few weeks, I don't know if we’re living in the arctic or if we should be applying sunscreen and wearing a spring coat. The weather has definitely been emotional. Rain, sun, hail, frostbite, sun, 40 below...weird!

I somehow still think we’re going to have a few snowstorms because, in February, some of this weather is too good to be true.

Anyhow, the sun is always shining inside of Elevate (Okay, maybe that was a lil cheesy!)

I wanted to take a moment to honour some amazing humans in Black History.

There is so much I learn each and every year. And there are so many humans who have paved the way for many of us to be in the positions we are in today.

Ethel Waters (1896-1977)

She first entered the entertainment industry by singing the blues, and later went on to become a Broadway star. She later made history when she started to work in television, being the first African American to star in her own show, "The Ethel Waters Show". She was even nominated for an Emmy in 1962!

Minnie Riperton (1947-1979)

Mariah Carey (my fave) started the whistle note, which is one of the highest humanly possible notes one can hit! (oh yeah Mariah). But Minnie had actually come out with this a few years prior and was known for her 5-octave range.

Do you know the song "Lovin’ You"? I'm sure you will know the note I am talking about. Unfortunately, Minnie died at age 31 before she could really live out her true potential.

EVENTS

Anyhow, it has been quite the whirlwind over here. Last week we had an Elevate photoshoot, and I am pretty excited to get the photos and share them with you! We seriously had way too much fun taking them. I must say I truly love our team.

I recently shared with you all the news about my joining the Pureology team, and to kick that off, what better way than to host an event!

On Thursday, March 23rd, Elevate Beauty Lofts is going to be hosting"REfresh”

An event hosted by us and featuring cocktails with Kassandra Kondo (you won't want to miss that!)

The event will take place from 7-9 pm. There will be cocktails, goodies, giveaways, swag and lots of info on the newest Dry Shampoo from Pureology!...(hint, there will be some dry shampoo hacks demonstrated)

Make sure to RSVP, as there are 30 limited spots for this event, but don’t worry; many more are coming after this one!

PROMOTIONS

If you have not met Angie + Daniela, from now until March 31st we would love to extend 10% off on Tuesday bookings with them! Book an appointment on a Tuesday from now until then and receive 10% off at check out!

LIFE LATELY

I must say the older I get, the more I truly enjoy being a homebody. I always say next life I will come back with one friend because sometimes there are so many events, I can’t even sit at home…the real problem is I need to learn to say no!

I will add that to my 40 + Fabulous list!

I have been working on a list called "40 @ 40". It’s a list I’m going to email all my friends about my fave things, and they can choose some to do with me. I am so excited!

For things I am going to change: #1. Wear more heels, and #2. Go by my full name.

Introducing…PAMELA!

Hope you enjoyed your family day!

Sending you all the <3

If you're reading this message, you survived the arctic freeze we had this past weekend. WOW is all I can say. I would just like to add that your love for your pets really shines in weather like that. I did NOT want to take Sandy for her walks. I literally felt as though my face had fallen off. I now have a new appreciation for -2 degrees, it really isn't too bad at all. These cold days can really get folks feeling down and gloomy BUT thank God it’s February which means we’re getting closer to spring.

Speaking of February, Valentine's Day is almost here. As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, I love to celebrate Valentine's Day. Love doesn't need to only be celebrated on one day, but also it doesn’t need to only be celebrated romantically. The love of friendships you share is just as equally important.

To make the day special here at Elevate on February 14th, every haircut and/or blow dry booked will come with a complimentary hair treatment, to show you how much we love you all!

We’ll also be offering 10% off on all our gift cards and blow-dry memberships from now until Feb 14th!

I would also love to share some cool news with you! As you all know, we have changed over to L’Oréal Professionnel and have been having great time with them so far. For the last couple of months, I’ve been in talks with Pureology and had a huge audition last Monday to be a Platform Artist for the brand (which means I will get to do super cool things like master classes etc.) Well, I got it! I’m very proud to announce I’m officially a part of the Pureology team. The products are not only great but the ingredients and the brand stand for so much. Stay tuned for more updates!

In other news, this past Monday we all had the honour of having Thaddeus come in to give us a Masterclass on barbering! Thaddeus is a Global Icon in the hair industry. His talent speaks for itself. He trained in the UK with Vidal Sassoon, partnered with L’Oréal, and created his own training academy called Gradient! Needless to say, we have "elevated" our skills in Barbering! I even brought in the Hubby to get his haircut by me, and I must say, it’s looking GREAT ... (although Thaddeus helped me out a lot LOL). I even got Lil bro Aaron in the chair to get a BIG MAN haircut. We can't wait to level up your cuts!

Bring the hubby, bf, guy friend, partner, son, or anyone you know who wants a short cut to your next appointment!!

Stay warm, and see you soon!

January Specials

Can you believe we’re already halfway through January?!

Before you know it, it'll be Galentine’s Day/Valentine’s Day, March Break, and POOF! Hello, summer! But… let me back it up a bit.

I feel like I’m finally getting some of my "resolutions" into action. I‘ve got a grip on my to-do list. I’ve learned I need to take my lists and break them into smaller ones with realistic timelines. I've learned to be ok with how much I can get done, and how much I can’t get done.... oh, and the best part? I've finally (AFTER 9 HOURS OF DELETING pics on my phone) ordered my photo books from 2021 & 2022. I still have to work on 2020, but as I said, I’ll get to it when I get to it.

This year, I’m focused on the expansion of Elevate! More stylists, more incredible products, and more fun!

Speaking of new products, did you all hear about the new dry shampoo drop from OLAPLEX? It’s EPIC! Think less dry shampoo and more scalp detox. It absorbs the excess oil while creating volume with all the added Olaplex patented benefits.

Another cool addition is the L'Oréal Hair Touch-Up! It’s a root concealer that helps cover those roots and greys in between salon visits. It will last until your next shampoo and comes in a variety of shades to blend perfectly with your colour.

Ask your stylist to show you these incredible products at your next appointment.

As always, we love your feedback so feel free to drop us a line on anything else you want to see here at Elevate!

Have a great weekend.

Xo,

 Pammy

P.S. Don’t forget! All products are on sale – 20% off & 10% off your first booking with Mubena for the month of January.

Happy New Year!

We made it another year stronger with our doors still open!

If 2020 didn't take us, we are only going up from here!

Do you make any New Year's Resolutions? Every year, I seem to have the same goals...

  • Get more organized

  • More time spent with my mama

  • More self-care

  • Care less about things that don't really matter

  • Don’t touch my phone when driving...(yeah I said it, don’t judge me because you do it too!)

Funny enough, there is something about 2023 that makes me feel like I’m ready to conquer this list. The last couple years for me have been BEYOND F$&ED UP!! (Seriously)! But, as tough as they were, I wouldn’t change much. Here’s the thing, if you change a lot of the past, your present moment wouldn't be the same. I know some of you might be saying, well if you knew my present you would want it to change, but seriously really think of every detail of your life, I’m sure there are some amazing parts so would you trade them to fix the few that may "seem" to suck?

I think 2023 should be about PRESENCE! We are all consumed with the opinions of others, being offended, and just the whole cancel culture that’s taken the world by storm. We are constantly judging ourselves by what we see on screen. I say it all the time, what we see are the highlights, no one is showcasing their “behind the scenes” moments, and probably because they ain't as shiny!

It's time for us to be fully present in where we are and what we do. Love where you are, love those who are there with you, don't worry about those who don't approve of you, and stop to smell the roses. Life is short, this year I’ll be 40! I have lived almost half of my life. This is why this year feels different. I’m entering into a new decade, a new chapter and I plan to live it with my eyes wide open and with those who I love and who love me for ME!

I’m so grateful for every single one of you reading this and who have been in my corner as cheerleaders through all the years & through all the mess with love and a latte!

Thank you and I love you!

HUGE ELEVATE UPDATES

What’s new at Elevate so far? A lot! We have two new stylists joining the Family FULL TIME! I’m so excited to introduce you all to Angie & Daniela!

Angie is a stylist from Windsor, ON. She’s taking a huge leap and moving to the big city. She LOVES all the things hair, going to the gym, and hanging on the couch with her dog... and maybe a glass of wine.

She does it all, from balayage to hair extensions, and specializes in blonde work.

Daniela is a well-seasoned stylist, and we go way back. I always love to tell this story. When I started my hair apprenticeship program, I took over for Daniela’s maternity leave. Long story short, things have come back full circle and here we are working together. She loves hair and people. She does an amazing job on blow outs and men’s cuts.

We are officially a full house, and with the addition of new team members, we will also be extending our hours for some stylists. We’ll be open later on Tuesdays (until 7:30 pm) and Thursdays (until 7 pm).

New products! We’ve recently expanded our catalog with the L'Oéal family and brought on some more of their stylers and shampoos for you all to try out! Talk to your stylist at your next appointment to see what products are suitable for your hair.

Nails + Waxing

Looking for the latest in nail art? Mubena is killing it with nail art at the salon. Don't forget to book a manicure or get those eyebrows in check when you're in next... Book online or call us!

As you know, we ALWAYS value your feedback. Please drop us a line on some of your favourite things at Elevate and what you want to see more of!

Cheers to an amazing new week in the new year!

Can't wait to see you all soon.

Xo

Pammy

P.S. Don’t worry if you break your clean eating rule this week, and don’t be so hard on yourself – you have a whole new year to try, try again!

You're invited to a special event

Freezing rain, snow, or even just regular rain, there is something I love about a day you're forced to stay inside. I don't know if it’s just me, but don't you feel (especially in December) there is ALWAYS something to do and somewhere to be? I’m a huge Christmas junkie but also look forward to taking the red Christmas decor out of the house... red makes me feel dizzy LOL.

Speaking of dizziness, we have a BUNCH of updates coming into the salon now until the new year! Let's start with the product…

As you know we have partnered with L’Oréal and have had a blast so far! So much so, we’ve partnered up with their retail collection! As much as AG had stolen our hearts in 2018, the support and education we receive from L’Oréal is incomparable. We can't wait to share the new products with you at your next appointment. So far, my favourite is the Curl Expressions line, because you know I be rockin’ dem curls!

Another one of our favourites is the SteamPod! It’s literally next level with 80% less damage than a traditional flat iron and infuses a treatment into the hair while styling.

Join us to learn all about it Thursday, Dec 22 between 11am – 4pm. We’ll have the team from L’Oréal in house to tell you all about it, as well as demos .... Did I mention the best part? Espresso Martinis, Cocoa bar and some yummy treats!

Call us to book a treatment as well as just pop in to experience the SteamPod for yourself!

We will also have amazing deals that day which include:

SteamPod reg $390 + tax on sale for 15% off which is 331.50 + tax.

$75 in goodies from L’Oréal (a free SteamPod treatment, serum, colour fanatic spray, and a silk turban).

PODCAST

As much as I’ve LOVED doing the podcast, I’ve decided to shift gears into 2023 and will be taking a break from the podcast to focus my energy on the salon. I want to bring in more opportunities to the salon and elevate the brand even more. I’m excited for the year to come and all that is in store for us!

LIFE LATELY

Well, the best part is always saved for last right?

So, I’m sure a lot of you have heard me talking about going to the Mariah Carey concert with Kevin and the kids. Well, I went and here I am ready to gush all about it. It was amazing! And the best part of it all was watching my kids experience her live in the flesh at the age when I first discovered her. Mariah played such an important role in my life as being a biracial kid in the 80s and not seeing anybody who looked like me. She truly made me feel like I had an identity and somebody I could connect with even though it was just through watching her on TV or listening to her CDs. It was such an amazing night. My kids had a blast and stayed up the whole time dancing and singing the night away. This was a moment I’ll never forget.

Stay warm and stay safe and see you soon.

P.S. Ahhh it’s almost CHRISTMASSS!

HO HO HO

Hello December!

WHAT’S NEW AT THE SALON

We can’t believe it’s already DECEMBER!

There are 25 days until Santa comes to town! You know this is my all-time favourite season of the year and I love me some Santa. Christmas is such a cozy season; all is jolly and even if it isn’t, there’s something about this time of year that still feels good. The carols on the radio, the lights, the trees, the cheesy Hallmark movies. I just eat it all up!

Speaking of Christmas, have you finished your shopping or have you just started making a list… Or maybe none of the above?

Elevate has some SUPER cute Christmas beauty buckets that are great gift ideas. We have tons of options, and the best part is they’re already packaged up and ready to go, and did I mention how cute they are? Grab one at your next visit, or better yet just come down for a latte and grab one. You won’t be disappointed.

Speaking of Santa, if you have an appointment this Saturday, Lakeshore Village is very excited to welcome back its annual Santa Clause Parade! I hear it’s a HIT!

With that being said, make sure you leave early for your appointments as Lakeshore will be blocked off starting at Islington.

If you are going and don’t have an appointment, stop by and say hello! We’ll have hot chocolate and a good window seat waiting for you!

For more details on the parade and where they’re headed, visit: https://lakeshoreparade.ca

Also! We’re hosting a fun event on Friday, December 16th for a fun demo of the new L’OREAL Steampod Styling tool!

It smooths your hair 2x faster and is over 90% less damaging than other regular hair straighteners. Come to our event and put it to the test - stay tuned for more details on our social channels.

 PODCAST

There can be beauty in the scars we have – not just the ones we see but the emotional ones as well. When something or someone cuts us, it might leave a mark, but it can be a learning less that will help us to grow and turn that scar into something powerful.

 LIFE LATELY

As for me, I am still recovering from Disney and trying to get my act together for the holidays. I’m looking forward to some downtime and a few days off to hang with the girls, cozy up with Kev, and just relax! Also, my family and I are counting down the days (10 in total) until we get to see…MARIAH CAREY’S CHRISTMAS CONCERT! Well, I don’t think Kevin is counting down LOL! It’s going to be epic and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

P.S. I’m starting to share more of my work on my personal page so follow along @pamelafacey to see what I’m up to!

PODCAST

There is something to be said about receiving exciting news or an unplanned adventure that ignites a spark inside us. However, sometimes those unexpected surprises are not always positive. Is a surprise ever a good thing? Listen in to my latest episode to hear my thoughts on the matter and feel free to leave a comment below!

LIFE LATELY

If you have been in to see me in the last month, then you would’ve heard the surprise trip we had planned with the girls to Walt Disney World! Even as an adult, Disney is a dream. Deny it all you want but most of the people at the park were adults wandering around with the same look on their faces as my kids. There is something about that Disney magic that lights up your soul. BUT, what makes Disney even better? Disney at CHRISTMAS! The lights and trees were so pretty and you all know my obsession with Christmas so this was just next level for me. The trip was actually a treat from a really good friend of ours and I will never forget it! We truly had a blast. We visited Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and most importantly, MAGIC KINGDOM. I loved every single moment but I did tell my kids, please don't think you'll have a lot under the tree this year as this is the ultimate gift any kid could ask for!

Travelling is always fun for me, but there is no place like home!

P.S. It wouldn't be a true Pam trip without me finding a cute coffee shop for my morning lattes, did I mention they had a cute cat cafe attached?

Exciting Changes and Family Fall Outings!

WHAT’S NEW AT THE SALON

Have you seen our new retail area? She is pretty!

I can't believe how amazing the weather has been. I just love this season but having the sunshine as well is a HUGE bonus!

If you’ve visited the salon in the last couple of weeks, you might have noticed some changes. That friendly face you see when you walk through our doors has changed roles. Say hi to Tonia Brown, Pam’s aunt and also the design eye behind our beautifully-curated shelves.

Our charming Erin is still with us but on a new side of the salon, she has taken the leap and is exploring a career path in hair. Hair has always been something she enjoyed and after playing a HUGE role behind the scenes these past few years (especially during lockdown), she has seen a lot. Most importantly, she has seen the roles we play as stylists in our clients’ lives. Seeing how every beautiful soul who walks in trusts us with the crown they wear on their head. So, she decided to begin her education in hair (although we have already had her doing it for the last few months anyways lol).

We are very excited about this, especially me (because all these blow dries have given me tennis elbow and I need the support). Send lots of strength her way as we are about to enter the busiest time of year and we’re sure it’ll give Erin some solid sleep at night LOL. She is currently taking bookings for Blow Dries as a Jr. Stylist so book your appointment now!

Don’t forget! Mubena is now offering gel manicures, waxing, and threading. Book now using code MUBENA10 to get 10% off your first appointment!

Plus, BOGO SALE on all previous packaging of AG products in our salon!

 PODCAST

This week, we had a few guests join our podcast episode. A mystery man as well as my cousins, Dan and Han. We took a deep dive into understanding the mind of a man. We asked the juicy questions that some women wanted to know... a man’s view on cellulite, botox, fillers, makeup, IG filters, BBLs, and the list goes on. Tune in to get some insight, you may be pleasantly surprised.

P.S. If you want to be featured in a future episode, feel free to email us info@elevatebeautylofts.com or drop us a comment below!

 LIFE LATELY

Speaking of fall and this fabulous weather we’ve been having, this past Monday the girls had a PA Day, so we made our way down to Downey's Farm! As many times as I can go there, it never gets old, and those pumpkin donuts are LIFE (especially warmed up in the oven).

I really love creating the stories my kids will tell 45 years from now. I want to create traditions like making pies that will have them saying “Mom, can you make that pie we love?” And creating memories they will want to recreate with their children one day.

I just love reminiscing; I feel like it warms the soul to go back and remember. I know, I’m corny, but you love it!

Cheers to the last week of October, and feel free to dress up this Saturday at your appointments…we will! I’m sensing an 80’s theme but you’ll just have to come in and see for yourself.

See you soon.

Full of Gratitude + New Services Added!

I’m sure as many of you are reading this, you’re probably eating salad, or avoiding eating to make up for the heaping plates of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie you had over the weekend... And if you aren't, I sure am! I really hope one day I learn to respect when my stomach is telling me that it’s full LOL.

While we’re quickly approaching the winter season, this week has some nice sunny days, maybe even warm enough to show some legs, time to bust out the razors one last time. Speaking of which, Mubena is back in full gear at Elevate offering her hair removal waxing services. If you haven’t met Mubena yet, she is quite talented in what she does and we are pleased to announce that on top of her waxing and brow tinting services, she’ll be adding...NAIL SERVICES!

At one of our previous locations, she offered nail services (shellac manicures and gel overlay) and her nail design is like no other and I’m excited to share that it's back!

Be sure to book an appointment for all those upcoming Halloween and holiday parties you have planned. Here is the nail menu below

Nail Menu

P.S. Her marble nail design is my FAVOURITE!

PODCAST

Whether you’re a mom or have a bestie who is a mom (dog moms count too), I’m sure you’re familiar with the term and the feeling of "MOM GUILT"! Why is it that we get mom guilt? This constant voice in our head that we aren't doing enough, or that we should never leave our children’s side, not even for a second. Tune in to the latest podcast episode as we discuss the question of whether or not it’s our society that puts this pressure on us or, whether are we battling our own insecurities.

LIFE LATELY

Speaking of mom guilt, I’ve just reversed the jet lag I was feeling upon my return last week from Italy. At the end of September, my bestie Denise turned 40 and wanted to celebrate in ITALIA! So, we packed our bags, and off we went. It’s funny how age and becoming a mom can change things. I went to Italy for my honeymoon 11 years ago and going back now without my family, I really felt homesick (after hours of tears before I left).

We had a great time, but many people asked if we partied and they were shocked when we told them no! We just walked 20km a day, ate a whole lot of pizza and pasta, and stayed up late in our pj’s talking smack and laughing our a**es off!

It was a blast! I’m glad we went and enjoyed those moments together. One of my favorite memories was scattering my Nana’s ashes under an olive tree in Tuscany, but there is no place like home.

See you soon,

 xo

 Pammy

Goodbye September, hello October!

We’re entering the height of my favourite season…FALL!

Pumpkins, booties, and lattes! WOOT!... Oh and let’s not forget Thanksgiving dinner and stuffing of course!

In the name of my favourtie season, I wanted to let you in on some changes happening around here. We have just gone back to our roots and partnered with one of our favourite companies, L’ORÉAL Professionnel! We can't wait to introduce you to some new goodies on our shelves, including Pureology! But wanted to mention one of our current favourites, Metal Detox System

Being lovers of Olaplex, this just got a whole lot better. We love creating beautiful colours in your hair every time you sit in our chair, but we also love keeping your hair looking and feeling its best. To keep your hair in optimal condition, it is vital to do preventative damage control.

L'Oréal’s Metal Detox System goes into the hair to remove metals and copper that live in our pipes. When those metals come into contact with your hair, there can be reactions that cause your colour to fade. This eliminates those risks, allowing your hair to look and feel its best! When we map out what we want our outcome to be, you can be sure we have the products to take you on that journey. Pretty genius, huh?!?

Ask your stylist for more information the next time you’re in!

 PODCAST

Speaking of mapping out the end goal, have you heard this week's podcast episode?

We dive into the importance of planning backward. A lot of the time we jump into things without thinking of what our end goal is. When we plan with the end in mind and work our way back to the beginning, we can strategically create the steps to get there efficiently and maximize the journey. take a listen here!

 LIFE LATELY

On another note, I can't believe I have a double-digit daughter! Last week we celebrated Madison's 10th birthday! I’m still mind blown that she is growing up so fast. This birthday really taught me to slow down and enjoy every moment because they fly by. It was super cute though; she chose a few close friends and we went to Joey’s then finished off the night with a movie! And just like that, another birthday for the books!

See you soon,

 xo
